Chairman – Michael McDonnell

The former Managing Director of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Ireland, Michael is an international HRM thought leader and current Chairman of Unijobs. Previously he was Chairman of the Board of Excellence Through People (ETP) Ireland’s national HRM and business development standard. Michael is a former President for the European Association for Personnel Management (EAPM) Representing 27 countries including Russia and Turkey and is co­-author with the Boston Consulting Group of “The Future of HR in Europe”. He has also served as a board member of the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA). He holds a BBS in Business Studies from the University of Limerick, an MSc (HR Strategy) from Sheffield Hallam University and an advanced Management Diploma from the Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin (UCD). He is also a Chartered Fellow with CIPD.



Martin Whelan 1

Managing Director – Martin Whelan

A senior HR practitioner with substantial international HRM and recruitment experiences in the healthcare and standards sectors. Previously NSAI’s Director of Standards and Board Member CEN, CENELEC, NCIR and NCI’s Leadership Council. He Chaired and drafted the current Excellence Through People HRM Standard and is a member of ISO’s Global Technical Committee (International HRM Standards). Martin has also held HR roles in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO). Academically he holds a BA in HRM & Accountancy from the National College of Ireland (NCI) and an MBA from the Smurfit Business School, UCD. Professionally he is a Chartered Fellow (CIPD), a Chartered Arbitrator & Mediator (CIArb), an Accredited Mediator (CEDR) and a member of SHRM (USA).

A science graduate from the Dublin Institute of Technology and the University of Dublin, he is a certified IRCA, Governance and RAB consultant who has managed audit programs for leading blue chip clients in the ICT, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, Aviation, Manufacturing, Chemicals, Automotive, Security, Food and Agriculture sectors in Ireland, Europe, the United States and Canada. He is highly experienced in areas such as GMP, GLP, 5S, Lean, CE Marking, Six Sigma, Environmental Science and Risk Management and has worked in EPA, IMB, EMA and FDA regulated environments. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health and a past Board Member of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).
